Soft Release Buttons are essentially larger shutter buttons. The
advantage of having larger shutter buttons is that they can be pressed faster
apart from being easier to press. Also, there is lesser chance of the camera
shaking while pressing the shutter button. In other words the control over the
equipment is better.
The soft release button is
absolutely useful in capturing sharp images by helping in taking handheld shots
at much slower speed of the shutter. The soft
release button would also help in capturing sharp images with smaller
apertures.
The
problem with soft release, however,
is the large size shutter button can get pressed while the camera is in the
bag. In case the camera remains on, this can certainly take a toll on the
battery of the equipment. Thus, with soft
release button in place, extra caution needs to be followed.
